My “America In Black and White” Gallery is the result of my past and present travels in the United States. There is a wealth of beauty to behold in our Country and I wish to share that with you through my eyes.
I chose to show my work in black and white to avoid the distraction of color and to focus more on tones, shapes, and forms.
My photographs are meant to do two things:
One, I wanted to emulate the masters of the black and white era, like Ansel Adams, Edward Steichen, and Henri Cartier Bresson. Although I may not reach their critical claim, I hope you will consider them an art you would enjoy displaying in your home.
Secondly, monochrome photographs have been missing from much of Photography today in favor of color, High Dynamic Range Photography, and other techniques. I believe that it is an art form being lost in the digital age.
My goal is to inspire you, to provoke an emotional response through my photography. Edward Steichen said it best;
Photography records the gamut of feelings written on the human face – the beauty of the earth and skies that man has inherited; and the wealth and confusion that man has created. It is a major force in explaining man to man.
